    Default String Life

I gave my son my V3 back this fall. When I had the bow set up for him, I had new strings put on it. We were told to just use the Matthews strings as they would hold up for a long time. Yeah, he's already worn them out and needs new ones. He averages 50 shots a day during the week and probably 100 a day on the weekends. Who makes strings that will last longer and give him better results for that bow?
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Whoever told you to use Mathews strings gave you bad advice. I like Gas strings if you're ordering online but a buddy of mine in Aynor started building strings last year and I'm shooting them on my bow. His business is Palmetto Precision Strings, I can send you his contact info if you're interested.

Yeah, that'd be great and appreciated. Sitting in my office he's sending them downrange now. Kid's worn the strings out, targets out, arrows out, two releases out, about 20 D-loops and more. He's now building his own arrows and buying components with his own money, Robin Hooding isn't as fun when it's on his dime.

    Winning!

No idea on strings but you are raising, and have raised right.

Ready to some fishing pictures soon.

All string makers are using the same material. End loops, pre-stretching, and the exact correct lengths are what set them all apart. Phantom have been the best for me and my home shop for a long time. Exactly zero sets that would warrant a replacement across a pretty large sample size. John’s customs are right there with them. I avoid the larger brands - gas, ABB, twistedX, etc. If it is not the owner making every string you are at the mercy of a $15/hr employee that doesn’t have the same attention to detail.

I would try that dude CW mentioned if he’s local for you.

    Sent you a PM Salty.

I agree with Wiz as well, it helps to know exactly who's building your strings and working on your equipment.

Yeah, I’m chomping at the bit to go, weather’s just sucked. Taking both boys to AK this summer, that’ll be fun.

I bought some Rogue strings (family based small business out of Ohio) and have been very satisfied with how well they have held up and not stretched or frayed.

I just bought some of America’s Best launch series as they have a two year warranty. Have been happy with them. Rouge is a good brand as well.

Everytime I see the title of this thread it makes me think of some new look-at-me bumper sticker for bow hunters, like salt life. Can a moderator edit the title to "string longevity" before those bumber stickers hit the street?
