    It is turbocharged, yes.

If you’re referring to the cooler on top that seals to the hood, that’s an air-to-air CAC that simply acts as a radiator to the air charge being forced into the engine. On any larger vehicle, it is normally mounted in front of the radiator.

It’s an air to air intercooler. It uses ambient air and cools it to make it more dense before it enters the turbo. Most turbo applications use this. Some use air to water which old school people would call a charge air cooler. Intercooler or charge air cooler could be argued to which is correct. At the end of the day it’s an intercooler.

Yes it’s forced air because it’s a turbo. It is not a naturally aspirated engine.

Thanks. i was actually referring to its an actual hood scoop vs the fake ones. Interesting location for an intercooler nonetheless. MG

Yeah I was picking up on what you were laying down.

I’ve tried to do better with my technical lingo.

Interesting enough most people would say it’s located on top because of room in the grille area. However on top right there it’s less air travel to the turbo which significantly reduces turbo lag. Throw a scoop in the hood and wah lah we have cool less dense air and reduced turbo lag.

Wife’s Tahoe is about to go back to the dealer again for the 2nd time. Transmission issues again. I imagine she’ll be in one next.

Pro Tip: If you cannot find a 250 series Land Cruiser (2016-2021?), the Sequoia TRD Pro (2020-2022) is a good one for value.

The 550 overtrail is pretty cool, minus the small fuel tank.. it's the only other complaint my wife has about it other then trying to get into it.
