    Default Davidson River fly fishing

Headed for 4 day camping and wanting to do some fishing. Just bought a fly rod/reel and coming off of cutting 2 fingers to bone and severing nerves/ arteries 7 weeks ago and surgical repair 5 weeks ago. I’m limited but determined.

Staying in Brevard so all fishing will be drive to leaders in River.

Any tips for first time fly fishing?

Damn dude. How'd ya mess up the hand?

Good luck on the fishing! I like it up there; make sure to visit Oskar Blues brewery while there. If they have the coconut stout, bring me back a case, please.

Go to Davidson River Fly fishing and ask to fish with Walker. Any of their guides will be helpful though. They have private water. It’s worth the money unless you just want to bumblefuck around not knowing what you’re doing. If you get Walker or Jeb ask them to take you to the retard hole. Tell them Jody told you to ask about it. You don’t have to fish their private water either. But at least you’ll catch some fish and learn something vs stomping around on your own wasting your time.

Covering for my project mgr at Tito’s Vodka in Austin,TX Easter weekend. Troubleshooting a conveyor and got distracted. Lucky I have Good bone density. Surgeon refused to come in over holiday weekend so flew home on Monday and had surgery in Greenville.

Def going to Oskar Blues while there.

The Alpo Variant is the deadliest fly pattern on that water.

What JAB posted while it may look like a joke will get eaten with a vengeance.

So booked with Davidson River and did private water. Guide was Conner and knew his stuff…guided all over N. America according to him.

Had to use my own rod/reel and my own cheap waders bc he didn’t have a right hand reel or size 15 boots. Whatever but happy to get some use from new setup. 9’ 5wt from Amazon that worked great.

Caught 17. Largest 23” that took me for a stroll…150yds down river before landing.

    Niiiiiiiice!! Fun stuff right there.

    That is no SNIT.

For another thread, but we have a world class trout fishery that runs right trough the ATHell. Holdover fish that can tug .. I burned many an hour in my youth catching some gorgeous Trout.
