Default For all my fellow brethren that are aggravated as pizz with "40 eyes" poor vision...

So...I went into my eye appt to get new contacts, as my vision has clearly gotten worse over the last 2 years. I do the tests, get the internal eye exam thinggy where you focus on the barn, and get the pressure puff in the eye test etc.
She comes back and puts in some new contacts, and they are great. Before now, I had close up (40 eyes) correction but did not need distance correction...which I find out sucks because no correction on a lens that sits on your eye does nothing but hurt your distance vision. Now that my eyes are worse and I need distance correction, my vision with contacts is actually much better. But that's not why I'm writing this...just gotta make this post long enough to maintain my rep.

So my doc gives me a 6 pack of single use drops and tells me to put the drops in before putting my contacts in in the morning and wait 30 minutes before putting in my contacts...tells me to tell her what I experience and that she does not want to tell me anything more so as not to influence the results.

I tell her I need to know SOMETHING about what she's wanting me to put in my eyes...and she just says, "it might help your vision; you want to try them?"

I say heck yeah I'll try some magic eye drops.

So two days later when I have dirt in my eyes from mowing my predominately sand and weeds lawn in a 25mph wind, I'm forced to take out my lenses for the evening.
I wake up and go have a cup of coffee with Abby while chatting on the couch. I put one drop in each eye as instructed. It's thick and goopy, and I'm not sure I got any in my eye. Abby tells me my eyes are really red and irritated looking. I finally blink the sticky away and can see like I always can without contacts...TV is mostly clear, everything in the room is fairly clear...clear enough not to think about it...phone and watch and anything small or within five feet are completely blurry.

We sit and talk for about ten minutes and I've forgotten about the eye drops. Abby tells me I need to follow up with the guy who was supposed to come survey our property the week prior, so I pick up my phone to look for him in my recent call list. I find him, hit the number, and it starts ringing. About the time someone answers, I realize that I could see my phone! I could read everything better than I have since before I got my 40 eyes back in 2013! I can see the small font on my favorite watch again! I could see better, without my contacts in, than I've seen in 13 freaking years. Hell, I could see like I did when I was a kid with perfect vision. I'm tripping out and kinda freaking and telling Abby everything I'm seeing...with the surveying company secretary on the phone wondering what kind of prank call or butt dial call she'd just received.

Abbys eye have required heavy correction since she was a kiddo. She's just now getting her 40 eyes over the last two to three years, and it's driving her nuts that she is having to now wear bifocal glasses and lenses and having to hold her phone at arms length from her face to make out the text. She grabs a vial and puts a drop in each of her eyes, and she can see better than she has for the last two years and says she actually sees better than she has ever seen with her contacts in.

The drops are called VIZZ. They are prescription, and the only contraindication I can find is if you have retinal tear or some condition that compromises your retinal integrity. Only side effect noted were low incidence of headache and "dark vision." No headaches here, but the darkened vision is real. This stuff constricts your pupils, so when you go outside, it looks exactly like the last 15 minutes before and first 15 minutes after a total solar eclipse. It's a weird kinda lower light state that is actually really cool. I would not want to drive at night with this stuff doing its thing, but it lasts for ~10 hours, and if you use it in the morning, it wears off about sunset (at this time of year and length of day).

It costs $186 for a 3 month supply online, and all your eye doc has to do is type in the script after your annual eye exam.

This is, as far as I'm concerned, a miracle drug. With my contacts, I feel like the bionic man minus everything but vision. It's nuts; it works; check it out for yourselves; thank me later...unless I've been Mergied.

    Very, very interesting.

I'm gonna have to see about getting a sample to try.

I ran into the Vizz drug rep last year at my eye doctors in Irmo. Sounded interesting. I have severe Kerataconus and now use scleral lens. I'm legally blind without contacts so was more worried about my far vision than my near. Scleral lens are a gift and give me far vision but I now have to use 1.50 readers for my near vision. I'll ask my doc about trying that stuff! Looks safe for folks using sclerals.
Listen to your elders. Not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong.
