Laws are not needed if people were perfect.
Either write things worth reading, or do things worth writing.

There are just not enough remote areas in SC where this law makes sense, from my quick read.

I think some jurisdictions could consider making this an allowance, but otherwise, there's nowhere in SC thats a UTV mecca , like Moab, UT for example where I feel like the law provides for a significant public benefit. Otherwise, they're just a nuisance, in the way, and dont have the same level of protection that an automobile provides.

You need to take a trip to 301 & River Road going out of Florence. There is an ATV park & it is nothing to see trailers with 250k worth of units riding to that park all week long but Thursday-Sunday it is a complete traffic jam due to all of them
    Yup, he's crazy...

Without being semantical, I guess what im trying to say is: a place to ride a utv is not a need to ride a utv.

For example, some states have vast areas without paved roads, have heavy winter weather, and generally less people and therefore its less likely that help will come along soon. Self rescue and a reliable way to get around, makes sense. And thats just not the case in SC. In SC, UTVs on the road is a recreational novelty.

The 30 something’s with their hats on backwards ride the hell out of the paved roads in the SXSs around my house. Two years ago a two year old girl was thrown/ fell out and the one following ran over and killed her. I expect more stories like this letting these things loose on the highways. We already have more than enough stupidity for the cops to have to deal with.

You can say the exact same thing about motorcycles. Golf Carts are a bigger issue than UTVs will be. Edisto Beach is a shit show with the Golf Carts and scooters

Add the new one. Retards on bicycles who do wheelies like they are 7 years old with 10 cars behind them. I yelled at one day before yesterday. I am not proud of it, but fuck your wigger ass back to South Congaree...

It does make the Mahindra Roxor with the turbo diesel a bit more enticing. I suppose they could be made street legal fairly easily now.

But all the flat bill Bro's coming and going to Hermitage on their SXS's may suck worse now.

She opened the latch with her hand in the door handle, and the wind ripped the door open with her holding onto it. It threw her under the back tire. Terrible accident that was 100% preventable.

When someone pays $20k for a toy, its only a matter of time until they demand we let them play with it anywhere they want.

Are they taxing them like cars to pay for the roads they demand we let them play on?

    Google search data:

Nationally, there are roughly 11,904 to 12,429 deaths and an estimated 360,441 injuries caused by alcohol-impaired drivers every year in the U.S. This averages to about 1,000 fatal accidents and over 30,000 injuries per month, with daily rates equating to approximately 32 deaths daily, or one every 44 minutes.

OK, so allowing SxS's on secondary roads will certainly add to this.

Another Google Data thing that was supposed to be implemented by 2027 but hasn't been following schedule.

A federal law mandates that all new U.S. passenger vehicles must feature technology to passively detect and restrict drunk or impaired driving. While the exact rules are being finalized by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, systems utilizing cabin cameras and infrared sensors will monitor for signs of driver intoxication or fatigue.

Just need the AI camera to be able to sense idiots...

First part, there are bout 40K of fatalities every year in this country, majority are due to the factors of speed, alcohol, no seatbelts and distracted driving being main issues

As for the new federal law mandates to restrict intoxicated driving is passed BUT technology is not to the point it is ready yet , sounds like it will never happen to be honest (need a way to detect STUPID driving )

Still not sure how this factors into UTV's , sad but lot of folks die on UTV's/ATV's every year not on a public road

Yeah, my wife’s car tries to steer me straight when I’m dodging pot holes with alarms beeping and stuff. So, it’s probably thinking that I’m drunk. Won’t be long before it will call the law and tell em where I am, after it parks me and shuts off.
