And should you find yourself going North on the Eastern Shore, the Boats and Hose restaurant on Taylors Island (near Cambridge) has some good grub and excellent crab cakes. We also liked them at Suicide Bridge, but that's a fair poke from Onacock.

“Duck hunting gives a man a chance to see the loneliest places …blinds washed by a rolling surf, blue and gold autumn marshes, …a rice field in the rain, flooded pin-oak forests or any remote river delta. In duck hunting the scene is as important as the shooting.” ~ Erwin Bauer, The Duck Hunter’s Bible, 1965

You’ll see some of the imbred people from Tangier & Smith Island in Onancock that have left the island. There easy to spot.

I had to physically make my ol Outlaw Pops stop shooting Black ducks there many a year back. He was pretty quiet all the way home. Rust frosted up a formerly pristine Mag 12 A5 as he wouldn't let me wipe it down before we left. That somehow became my fault too.

My Dad opened a lot of doors for us with a couple pallets of Purina Hi Protein dog feed. I miss him.
