    Default Custom Sized Gun Safes?

I kinda Googled, but got tired of weeding through shit.

Are any of y'all aware of safe companies that do custom sizes?

    Thanks.

No but Hyatt in Charlotte has the biggest floor display i have seen around. They have all the major brands of commercial gun safes. You can get a good idea what is out there in person.

    Thanks.

I'll look into making a trip, and stop by Nichol's along the way.

Vault door and build it. If you have room you can do CMU and pour it solid. If you have to frame it, use a stud wall 6”OC, run #5 rebar at 12”0C. Spray foam walls, 2 layers 5/8” drywall. Run wire mesh under the sheathing and nail sheathing off at 2”OC. Add duct for supply and return and a canister fire protection system. 2nd way isn’t full proof but they better pack lunch to get through.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I've never seen a custom safe but a friend in the gunnite business built a safe room/gunsafe at his country house. I think it's similar to what Saltydog described. Calling it a saferoom might make the wife more receptive to the idea. If I ever built a house, I'd certainly consider adding one.

Basically get 4X the times number of the capacity vs the guns you have and that’s what’s gonna fit in there. What are your questions?

Sadly, I don't have the space for a dedicated room. If we ever move, it will be my only request when bargaining with the wife on a new abode.

LOL. You type that like I'm new to the game. My search is due to needing, yet, another safe. For the spot I have in mind, I don't know if anything mass produced will fit; hence me seeking a custom option.

If you are so seasoned then. Why ask the question to which you know the answer.

I didn't know the answer. If I had a time machine, then I may have a solution.

I'm seeking a custom size, NOT looking for advice that was useful 30 years ago. Back then, I did go 4x larger than I thought I would need. Then I did it AGAIN. And here I am, yet again, short on space and needing a solution. That's the whole reason I was trying to see if custom sized safes were a thing.

Perks of the business I’m in. I’ve designed and done a few. Early in my career i got experience building some banks, learned a thing or two about vaults. Done a few like the second option I posted where they couldn’t be poured and were retrofitted. One guy had 4 layers of impact drywall and 3 layers of security mesh, halon system, stainless bars in the walls etc. Cool guy, a little paranoid though. He had less guns than I do.

We did one that was just titled storm room on the drawings, left the inspector scratching his head. 8” walls and floor with #5 staggered mat 4”oc. Ceiling was 6”. Concrete guys bitched about that one a lot. Kind of fun to build and make look like a finished room.

My ignorant ass just figures rebar run through cinder blocks and a full-pull fill through the blocks. Ceiling would be a #5 rebar grid at 16". If some dumb bastard ever made it in there, he'd never get out with anything. And, yes, a vault door is key.

    Maybe in another life...

When that last kid walks across that stage, I’m going to build my house out in the country somewhere. It’ll have a big ass vault room complete with loading benches, ammo storage, dry fire suppression etc. A big chefs kitchen, hug shop and vault are the only things I care about. I’d go 1 bed, 1 bath and be happy.
