Default Scout Terra Won't Go Into Production Until March 2030

Terrible news for SC taxpayers. This means they, like other EV companies, are banking on a democratic President to wake the mandates and incentives back up...or never at all. MG

In February 2024, when I went to South Carolina for the groundbreaking of Scout Motors' brand new factory, the Volkswagen-owned automaker said production of its upcoming truck and SUV would start in 2026. Eight months later, when the Traveler SUV and Terra pickup were unveiled, Scout said the production models were a bit delayed, set to come out in 2027 instead. In the year and a half since then,*Scout has shown the concept trucks in new colors and with some new accessories, but we haven't publicly seen any test mules or prototypes (though a handful of test rigs do apparently exist in real life), and the factory is still in the process of being built.

Two months ago, reporting from German publication, Der*Spiegel*said the Scouts had been delayed even further due to technical problems with the trucks' development, with production not set to start until summer 2028. CEO Scott Keogh somewhat confirmed that about a week later, saying that he expected customers to get their hands on*Scouts sometime in 2028. Now, a new report from AutoForecast Solutions, brought to our attention by Autoline, says Scout's delays are even worse than we thought. The*Traveler*SUV's start-of-production date has been pushed back to September 1, 2028, while the Terra pickup apparently won't enter production until March 1, 2030.*That is a long-ass time from now. In fact, that would mean a longer wait for Terra buyers than Tesla Cybertruck buyers endured, as that model was shown in concept form in November 2019 and went into production four years later.

EV is dead. Hyundai Savannah has already moved past and is now gearing up for Hybrid and Internal combustion powered vehicles going forward.

The next focus is supposed to be Hydrogen power. Maybe someday soon, or later.

Don’t tell BMW ev is dead. They just finished\ are finishing up that battery plant outside Woodruff. F Scout and their stupid electric SUV. UNless they figure out the battery deal to make it better or just flat stop pumping oil and improve our grid, we’ll all have humanoid robots in our house before we’re all driving Evs. And the robotics thing is coming and quickly.

EV has been shuddering. Seems odd that most other makers are slowing or stopping production, but Scout continued on building.....hmmm I wonder why? To big to fail? Sorta sounds like a nuclear project.

Good thing the state gave them all those tax breaks while they voted to NOT follow the federal tax breaks on citizens.

I am a fan of Toyota. Toyota has long been pro-hybrid, anti-EV. They (like others) felt pressure to make one with the looming threat of the 2030 Biden plan. I bought my wife a hybrid Toyota Avalon last summer. It's the largest passenger car to ever wear the Toyota badge, and it gets 47.5 MPG in the city. I cannot imagine handicapping myself by being pure EV.

I digress; the point of my post was that my f'ng tax dollars being set on fire in this and the large battery plant in Florence that sits quietly, supposedly to employ 2,500~4,000, are being used to chase delusions.

Fear not. For those in Columbia got what they wanted. You and I were never a consideration in any of the decision making process.

Honda cut bait on EV's last month:

On Thursday, the Japanese automaker said it expects to write off up to 2.5 trillion yen — roughly $15.7 billion — as it reshapes its North American EV strategy. Honda expects the charge will push profits into the red in 2026, marking its first annual loss in nearly 7 decades.

Correct. What's amusing to me is that there are still folks that think they're ever gonna roll an EV off that assembly line. Lol

Or that they'll ever vote for and find a politician that puts the individual/citizen above corporations and lobbyist.

Nobody wants lithium batteries around their houses. Shipping companies can't get insurance to haul EV's anymore there have been so many onboard fires...

Yep. What could possibly go sideways with politicians courting billion dollar corporations.

You're skepticism, disgust is duly noted.

    I agree 100%.

    Keep connecting the dots.....

I actually agree with you for once, keep the hope alive for BMW there. Tell everyone to keep moving to the shithole triangle that extends from Woodruff to Fountain Inn to downtown Greenville so that they stay out of the Midlands and lowcountry as long as possible.
