    Default Over tire tracks

Anyone use or have any experience and can provide pros and cons of using the steel ott tracks.

I am leaning towards the steel for added weight as I never use my machine on any hard surface such as concrete or asphalt.
I use it for resurfacing and grading roads, driveways etc..

Tons of knowledge on this site so thought this is a good of a place to start as any.

Years ago I ran Loggering tracks on a CAT 252, no real complaints on them if you stay off pavement/concrete. They’ll destroy both of those if you run on them or especially turn on them. Keep the tires aired up unless you already have them foam filled. You get more traction than a wheeled machine but less than a true tracked machine.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

If your tires don’t have good tread ( less than 50-60%), you don’t turn proper pressure or you don’t sufficiently tighten tracks, they will wear on your tires pretty heavily. But not the tread- the sidewalls.

Loading and unloading. They can/will slide on rumps and metal trailers.

Or catch the angle treads on a ramp, forgot about that one, that was an interesting offload.

Tires are 90%ish I do not have foam filled yet anyway.

Most of the work I do with the machine is in sandy soil. Will these improve traction in sand also?

Never used them in sand, clay mostly.

Why not just upgrade the machine to a tracked unit. There’s some good incentives and deals out there.

It is an older case. This machine has been to reliable for me to upgrade to a new one with all the electronics and bells amd whistles that I honestly don't need.

I figured if I get positive feedback I can add some tracks to it and keep the one I have. I saw several sets of the steel tracks for sale pretty reasonable and all the videos I saw were more less focused on muddy terrain.
