Owner run, 46-52 ft, Gtown and occasional Bahamas, Oregon Inlet, or keys. No tournaments. Meat and billfish.

37 freeman. Owning a sport fishing boat on a budget you’ll be turning wrenches on it more than fishing.

A good captain that will take care of your boat. You aren't going to have the time for that.

Extra horsepower - More horsepower is better within reason. If you've got some to spare, you can run at lower RMP. But as you go up, so does you're fuel burn.

Furuno Sonar - If you have it to spend, get one.

Fighting chair or battle bucket with rocket launchers - Yes to the chair. Hell no that "battle bucket" faggotry. Everything about that is gay.

Flir and night vision - They're a good idea.

Dredge reels - The LP has become synonymous with the term dredge reel. LPs cost 7K plus, each, without a rod. If you can afford them, sure. I'd like to get a pair of 10/0 senators with electro-mates. Then again, I know where there's a pair of Penn Downriggers.

    Seakeeper - No

    Satcom - Yes

More teak - No teak at all. Varnish is not your friend.

Water maker - Only if you're traveling. And if you're traveling, you might consider an ice maker, the kind that makes shaved ice and pushed it into an ice box in the mezzanine or under the floor.

The battle saddle does not have a foot rest. Feet are on floor. Im sure that affects how much your legs help but it does not crowd the transom with foot rest. Anyone used one?

You can take the press off your fighting chair if you’re not using heavy tackle.

    This
My buddy has a fairly new 65' Viking and it's mind numbing the costs associated with it. He has the cash though
He bought his slip for $350k in Morehead. Full time local captain on salary that also cleans and does maintenance on it daily.
He tells Capt Billy when and where he wants the boat, ie: Bahamas, etc and then my buddy and his wife fly down and fish it and fly home.
Boat has it's own credit card and the fuel and maintenance, meals, etc. is insane each month
Don (owner) likes to sit up in the bridge w/ Capt Billy and also gets asked "want to drive"? Always says "No Thanks, I'm good"

Good to know. How about folding the footrest up while not in use?

My next boat will have chiller plates in lieu of hauling 300# of ice. We take bagged ice but haul block ice more and more.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I'm liking that 35 more and more. Runs fine on twins, less maintenance cost, less fuel and it's a big 35. Haven't stepped on the 32 yet but hear it's also pretty big for a 32. Never had a desire to own a sportfish after seeing all the maintenance those guys are constantly doing. Go, have fun, catch fish, wash it down and go home, rinse and repeat.

The folks that I know that are happy sportfish owners have enough money that it doesn’t really matter. If you fall in that category, buy a sportfisher
Them that don't know him won't like him, and them that do sometimes won't know how to take him

He ain't wrong, he's just different, and his pride won't let him do things to make you think he's right

For sure. I want one we can travel in. You aren't doing that comfortably on a catamaran, and if I am being honest, I don't really trust cats anyway...
