Get a propane tank & install a tankless or go to Ferguson and get an 80 gallon. It's a matter of switching some wires around in the heater to have it run on 240V, it's gonna be the quicker and cheaper route, all though it still ain't cheap.

Putting back to back 40's will be cheaper initially(considering you can pull another feed for it fairly easy), but will cost more to operate and will start costing you money by year 3.

If you wanna come to pawleys, I'll give you one at my cost.
That 199K BTU Rinnai is the tits. My electric bill has gone down significantly since getting rid of those two tanks and my gas bill ain’t bad considering cooking and HW.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Got a letter from the NG company yesterday letting you know in a nice way that NG has spiked and if have trouble paying your bill call. NG used to be really cheap but last month my NG bill was stupid high and used less than the year before. Just saying.

I run 2 Rinnai's, indoor stove, and outdoor kitchen on one 250 gallon propane bottle and nothing ever runs out. 2 more of them attached to the Genset and I don't think they have put a gallon in those in a year. We'd run through a 1500 gallon tank in the mountains on the reg because the Genset ran so much...

Listen to this man. He has the electrical knowledge to backup his statement.

One of my hard rules is I don't mess with electricity ... I don't know much about it, I don't mess with it, if I have an issue I call an electrician. I've had an electric tankless water heater at my duck camp for 4 years now, zero issues, my power bill isn't high, and my lights don't dim. Maybe I just got lucky.

Water will be just as hot if you go back with electric tank units and it will be a lot cheaper. Someone mentioned breaking even at about three years if you were to switch to a tankless gas heater, but I don’t know. Between labor, materials, tank/tank rental, and then propane, it will take a while to make up the difference in up front and electricity costs. If you do go propane, you can also get logs to use for heat in the winter during power outages which are nice to have.

Yeah, I feel like I have stated it enough here but my electric tankless experience has been very positive. I have also switched my stove to an induction cooktop, and it is nothing short of exceptional. I know those with great experiences with gas hot water and gas stoves. I choose not to have gas inside my house except for gas logs in an emergency.

BTW, I am convinced if I had flushed by tankless as it recommends, I could have gotten more years out of my first one. MG
