Default Strange season and Chessie's rule.....

Being so incredibly dry, my large roost bay did not hold birds this season.
At the end of the day, this was crippling to our season and birds would roost in one of my planted ponds.
They would roost, stay some days and or some nights, a mix of day and night ducks, etc etc.
There was very little rhyme or reason to their habits, but we're talking migratory waterfowl here!
The highlights...... 12 sandhill cranes that have been here for about three weeks now, a whopper sprig Jane killed, and yesterday afternoons snow hunt.
Glad it's over as I'm ready to start making some changes and improving some things for next season.

They hate snow. Only thing better on our side is sleet. Can't tolerate it at all...

Big ducks did not really want anything to do with the snow in our ponds. The amount of teal that showed up was nothing like Ive ever seen.
