Riding around with a chambered round in a pistol or deer rifle is legal, day or night, but not very safe. If stopped for a traffic violation you should not be charged for a weapons violation.
Riding around at night frequently stopping to look at deer standing in fields with aid of binoculars on a full moon, I fields that you don't have permission to hunt, with a deer rifle with chambered round looks like an activity called night hunting. It is suspicious.
If I were in an elevated stand with binocs and a loaded high power rifle two hours after dark without following the coyote regs it is night hunting, right? You would not have to shoot for it to be considered hunting, right?
Why is it not considered night hunting when you are in a vehicle?
