Had a pretty unique experience this December. I have never gotten into the western big game hype, with the roundabout draw rules and entry barriers for to draw, but this was an awesome introduction. My mom, brother and I drew cow Elk tags in Utah. There is not a whole lot that can be said, as it was just an unbelievable experience. Luckily we were able to meet up with someone through my work at Whitetail Properties that had the same tag so we had some local assistance.
The Uniqueness of the area and mountains cannot be described. Hunted between 8000-10,000 ft, there was limited snow, which made the hunting a little difficult as they were more spread out. But every day we saw dozens if not more elk, mule deer, and turkeys every day. Several bulls and large bucks in the area too, which was cool to see. I was the only one who wasn't able to claim my tag. I put a shot on one but unfortunately did not recover it. Nonetheless, we had a great trip and have some full freezers for this year.
