    Default Stove, Oven, Range

Whatever you want to call it, we need a new one. 7-8 years ago we bought all new LG stuff for our kitchen. Not impressed. Fridge has had the water valve and ice maker replaced. The microwave died after 4 years. I have replaced 2 eyes on the stove and the convection fan has stopped working in the oven.

Going to get a new one. Wife only wants electric. We need the eyes to get hot on top when you turn a knob and the oven to go to and hold a temperature. Don't need wifi or 1000 settings and options for stuff well never use. Oh, and stainless to go with what is currently in there.

Are there any quality, no frills, electric, stainless brands/units out there that will actually work and last?

I replaced all mine with Fridgidair Gallery series about 8 months ago. Absolutely no complaints. Got the stove/oven, fridge and dish washer. Jeff Lynch in Greenville. They delivered and everything.
No matter if it’s pistols, pussies, pistons or pocket knives, it needs lubrication!

Fridgedaire, GE and Whirlpool make appliances. LG and Samsung make TVs. You'll never convince otherwise. The are obviously other appliance brands that are very good to great. LG and Samsung are not one of those.

I hear ya. The Frigidaire dishwasher we bought at the same time has been flawless.

When you decide how much to spend, make sure you take into account how much it gets used.

The stove/oven is one of the most used items in my house and it justifies me spending big to get a really nice one. I spent most of my life using a mid to low grade average economy stove and once I finally replaced it with a relatively premium brand model (that I happened to get a really good deal on), it made me understand that I need to amortize stuff based on how much I use it. If I ever wear this one out, I'm prepared to go deep and get the nicest one I can find to replace it. You won't miss the money once you get a chance to appreciate the better quality. If your wife does most of the cooking, you'll get double points for getting the nicer one and it's a gift that keeps giving.

I can tell you that KitchenAid appliances suck.

GE or Whirpool are as good as most and usually on sale at one of the big box stores. They have service available too. As with all appliances the plain jane (less features and settings) is usually the best and has the least problem. Water and ice in the door of a frig is the most worthless and failing item i think. Also a washer with 50 different settings.

I never buy appliances expecting them to last more the a few years. If they do all the better but rather than getting them repaired i just get a new one and don't have to deal with it again for a few years. Generally repair is half the cost of a new appliance.
