Looks like I’m going to acquire a CO2 laser engraver. Anyone familiar with a BOSS LS1240?? Depending on what it’s capable of and how user friendly it is will dictate how long i hold onto it. Just not sure what I’m about to be getting into.

With NFA "rules" changing, engravers are gonna be busy.
I've got an ass of shit that I'll be dropping off in January.

What changes in engraving are coming with respect to NFA?

When a person "manufactures" a SBR (adds a stock in lieu of a brace, or shortens the barrel) - the weapon needs to be identified as such.
If you file a Form 4 under a trust, the trust info needs to be engraved into the firearm. If you file as an individual, your name and address goes on the gun.
However - if a factory SBR is transferred to you (or your trust) then no engraving is necessary.

i still don't
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
That seems as nerdy and almost as overreaching as the premise of a cwp.
The engraving on my SBR is so little you almost need a jeweler's loupe to read it.
I also have a "ghost gun" that I built and whether it's a pistol or rifle is determined by what upper and what shoulder stock I attach to it. I could put a short barreled upper on it with a brace and it's a pistol. If I swap to a shoulder stock, it's an SBR.
Does a completed 80% receiver need a tax stamp to have a short barrel?
The whole NFA is overreach that accomplishes nothing with respect to stopping violent crime.
