Over here, Hodges SoulFood at Southlake Mall in the hood was the go to.. All were welcome. Cracklin Conebread was the bonus. Like so many good things about the ATHell, Hodges is closed permanently.

I haven’t had crackling cornbread in a loooong time

    That needs to change

The ladies at Hodges were master chefs.. I try to make Cracklin conebread at home and it's edible, but not Hodges level of greatness. I think the key is precooking the Crackins crisp.. which mean firing up the fryer outside as she who must be obeyed won't like me stinking up the house.

It ain’t much to look at but i LOVE to eat at Genuine Flava in sumter. They do it all. Smothered pork chops, neckbone, fried chicken, stewed turkey wings, oxtail, etc. and all the soul food sides. The place is absolutely delicious.
