Jacob's in Andrews has pretty good oxtail. Actually, everything I've had from there is pretty good. I usually hit up Cooper's on the way down to Georgetown, and Jacob's on the way home on Sunday.

You could find a great oxtail stew at Freddy Hill's store on most Thursdays...
Forgot about brisket fat. Good call, dude.

Catfish belly blackened with some Cajun 2 step and butter on a hot cast iron is hard to beat.
Duck fat might be the winner for fart maxxing, my body hates it.
That's better then what happened to the last friend I had that spilt like a pound of foie gras with me. He's a pretty healthy dude, but he ate it with like 3 or four meals in a row. He was in NC playing golf and couldn't figure out what he did to his foot.. severe pain. When he got to the doctor he told him he had gout. He probably hasn't touched it since.
and Big Ts in Hopkins (the original) and the little joint in Cola serve oxtail 3-4 days a week....pot roast style
A Nation of Sheep Breeds a Government of Wolves!
I've slow cooked my share of short ribs and oxtails.
I think I prefer the oxtails but they are both superb!

Oxtails and rice...... makes a fine gravyish liquid.
Over here, Hodges SoulFood at Southlake Mall in the hood was the go to.. All were welcome. Cracklin Conebread was the bonus. Like so many good things about the ATHell, Hodges is closed permanently.

Hodges always had a fine veggie selection.
3 kinds of greens daily. Turnip, Mustard and the always divine Collards. Unreal mac and cheese , Red beans, White beans, Butterbeans, boiled cabbage, mashed parsnips, fried okree, Stewed okree and tomatoes, ladypeas, purple hulls, blackeyed peas..... never knew what was gonna be on the bar. Constant was it was all excellent.
Damn sad day when they shuttered the place. I won't even type the meat choices as I may get upset. Peach cobbler or Banana pudding to go.

I've never had oxtails, but I cook braised short ribs with mashed taters at least a couple times a month. It's my absolute favorite meal.
To be honest, I usually buy the thickest chuck roast in the store and cut it in big chunks like actual short ribs and sear every side before braising.
Crops are harvested, animals are killed.
One of the better meals ive had. A day of crappie fishing followed by a grilled ribeye plus oxtail, rice and beans, and collards all from a lady that sells them out of her house on the island.
