No luck for me & my son. All we put in for was all the places on the Santee delta. 3 points now.

Have not been in quite a few years. We have learned to be some what mobile , start out in blinds but be willing to move to where ducks are flying.

We also got drawn Cedar this year, hunted it years ago and was good hunt for most part . Been to Bear Island 4-5 times and decent hunt but not great.

Lot folks here would know better than me but these are the better hunts (Murphy/Cedar) from what i recall

Eat your Wheaties. When they warn you that it might be strenuous, they aren't kidding or exaggerating. There may be some more easily accessible stands but we never got one. One hunt we had was an absolute death march. We still enjoyed it but it thoroughly kicked our asses.

Same. Murphy ain't for the meek either, hopefully they've upgraded the coffins.

My little bit of advice on those coastal hunts are be a good shot. I'm always aware of where my bird will fall.. Unless it's unbearably slow then I'm not tracking a bird through much grass, I'll shoot tss too. If you don't have a dog find out where there's deep water if any. Also hunt light and take the advice from the guys down there.

I'm in pretty solid shape, but I began glaring at my wife's peloton when I saw the notice.

    Very good advice.

Got drawn for Murphy this year. Look forward to it and sending my hunting partner after all downed birds, as it will be his first trip.

It's been years since we've hunted Murphy.. and we closed down the Big Tuna the night before, combo of gin and oysters. I blame Chessbay

Got drawn for Bear Island, 12/17 which is a Wednesday. Season comes back in that Monday prior, so hopefully there will be plenty of birds around and hopefully they'll be good and dumb from having not been shot at too much. Or at least just enough to run them to the areas they don't get shot at... until Wednesday of course.

Had a mid/late-January hunt there last time we got drawn and had a really good shoot. Pintails, loads of wigeon, couple gadwall, my buddy messed up and shot a spoonie on accident to complete our bag.

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

I held off and bought my 5th point. Still recovering after my injury last year and want to be ready for a Santee Coastal hunt. Probably be solo...

No draw on the quail hunt with 5 points ... I don't put in for the duck hunts anymore, I'll probably quit putting in for the quail after I get drawn (if that ever happens).

The McBee Hunt is worth putting in for every year!

No dice again for me. Will have 5 points for next years draw. They should really increase the numbers for SCR and bear island. Only allowing 12-15 hunters/hunt for that many acres is ridiculous.

There are just 2 in our group. Will they pair us up with other hunters or should we be by ourselves?

Its a crying shame that I did not get drawn again for McBee or Bobwhite Hills..dogs need the work! 4 pts and counting.

Drawn for murphy on the last hunt in January. Hunting solo. Don’t remember how many points I had, but it was quite a bit.
