    Default Any Santee Regulars?????

I’ve got one more shot at filling my tag tomorrow. I have several good ones located but seem to be better in the afternoon. Anyone got any advice for morning time that has seen some gators.

Tag should have already been filled twice. Blew it on Friday but live and learn. Big ones are not stupid.

Chased one on South Santee yesterday, gave me one shot with the treble hook. He would surface under the tree limbs after that. Stay down 30 min at a time.
I would think on Marion/Moultrie, the method of wooden dowel and meat would work. Pretty neat how they do that in Florida .

Midlands. I guess when I say Santee I mean Marion and call Moultrie by its name

Yea all good, I see you clarified above. Wish I had some advice for you but have personally always struggled and struck out with the gators on the upper lake.

I saw your truck at the ramp on 9/17.

Go back to that ramp, go up a river. Find a big gator, they’re going to go down there as soon as they see your boat. After you find one, get your boat mate to drop you off the bank right where you saw him go down. Boat keeps on going and hangs out nearby. Wait a little bit on the bank with a rod and casting hook. Wait him out 20-30 minutes but he’ll come back out as long as the boat’s gone and no more boats are cruising through.

With this full moon you’ll be able to see him come back up. Don’t use a light, hook him, get your boat mate to come back down and then fight him from the boat.

That’s actually a really good idea. These big ones ain’t stupid. Out of all the ones I have found on the bank during the day, I have literally have had 1 stay up and even that one was skittish. I got within 15 yards only because I came from down river and was hidden by grass. Stupid over hanging limb got me.

Early morning has always been the way to go for me. They are going to do exactly what Fullchoke said. Patience. They don't act like they used to that's for sure. You won't be getting close to start with, before he goes down. They are going to move even further in the river and pop up a ways off. Hide and wait.

I’m in rocks pond right now. I probably seen six or 81 maybe nine or 10 foot. I’m gonna hang around downhill for a little while. They seem to be pretty active and then head up the stump hole or low falls.

Work right into Crappie Neck and check behind all the islands and back in the little sloughs towards the canal. The flat off the canal on the other side right next to Harry's used to hold a couple good ones, but i believe they have been removed. Never know if another big one could've popped up though.
