What about the deer stuck during early archery? No big deal trailing one half the night and finding it dead with temps in the '70's.

Sounds to me like the first processor you went to didn't want to clean any more deer and was being lazy.

The meet will be fine. Enjoy and congrats on your kill!

I skin and process my own. You get top quality when you do it yourself. If the meat is bad you know.

Did a search and reviving this thread 12 years later. What’s the brain trust say on finding one that was shot tonite in the am first light tomorrow if it’s going to be 68degrees? I wouldn’t even ask if it was a cold night. Had them cleaned more than once mid 40s overnight. Curious how warm overnight temp is too warm?

Im in the same boat. Smoked a doe at 5:30 and looked for her till almost 9:00. Only had good blood for 30 yards then nothing. It’s thick as all get out in there. I don’t think the meat will be any good. It sucks, i hate loosing deer.

No matter if it’s pistols, pussies, pistons or pocket knives, it needs lubrication!

Oops. Didn’t realize old thread. Seems a bit warm for leaving overnight presently.

Overnight tonight is a no-go, unfortunately. Worth looking for peace of mind, but it’s coyote food.
