Thank you, bubba. I'm ready for you to show me that gator trout bite.

They say the Argentinians give away all the dove that get shot down there but go crazy about the pigeons. Figure that's a pretty good indicator.

I mean they're rock doves, in the same family.. typically a little lighter meat, and larger. I mean, squab.. there's that too. You could get into collared and ringneck doves too.

My grandmother cooked a pile of pigeon breasts I brought her from shooting them off the top of the silo with granddaddy’s .22. Till granddaddy found out I was shooting them off the top of the silo, and figured my 10yo open sight aim probably wasn’t all that true.

More power to you if you like the taste of pigeon. I’ve had it many ways and just can’t stand the taste of it. Probably be good meat for purlo though!

Squab is like one of my top things, like maybe 15 or 20.. which means something. Most animals, birds, will taste like where they're living and eating. Just like some ducks on the coast being compared to what they taste like here.. pintails, teal, same.. I've killed some butt nasty tasting gadwalls on the coast. I plan on never shooting a spoonbill on the coast to eat again, they're not great here either. Pigeons are the same, there's not much difference if they're eating good food. Lighter meat, I don't go out with the sole purpose to target them, Willk will, but I'm not shooting things I dont eat.. except for a couple critters.. like coyotes and shit like that.

About it. I won't target domestic geese for sport, mergansers, or coots

What's your favorite way to cook a dove? Gonna pan fry some and do a pot of grits with some gravy tonight.

I'd cut them off the breast for that, and just olive oil, salt, and pepper, garlic if you care, and sear them to medium rare to medium. I eat some game rarer then most, it depends if you're eating with the meek or women. I love doves whole picked and grilled or smoked with maple syrup, real syrup. Either with fresh thyme as the second or a little cayenne, separate those two. I do like them over real grits.

I'll think of things in a little bit, forgive me.. I'm old and retired and don't own a computer anymore. I only have this phone and it's tedious

If you de breast them, use the bones and bits in a stock for the gravy.. if you're wanting a gravy with the grits dish

I don't like wasting game either. If I killed it, I like to represent it in a decent way.

There are probably plenty of guys on here that get their limits in less than one box but a limit with less than two boxes is relatively good shooting. On your current trajectory, you're going to have to start thinking about getting a dog.
