Those Lugoff stores are owned by Mark Mason, and his son runs them. He lives across the lake from you.

Glad you know and do business with him. I am sure if I walk in the dealership, he will let me use a loaner as well, not. Times have changed is all I am saying.

Eddie would loan you his car if he had to. A couple of years back, I was playing in Eddie’s charity golf tournament in Summerville. Hart texted me and asked me for a recommendation for a dealer. Bill Sugg’s (pres of mossy oak) granddaughter was living in Charleston, working as an nurse and her car had died. She was looking for a +/- $20k car and just wanted a dealer she could trust. I told Eddie the story that day (not who she was). He said to give her his cell number. She called him the next day and he gave her a used Accord for free.

I knew the Cumbie’s and they were great people. Stokes is a bigger group, but they are cut from the same cloth. Carvana gonna give you a loaner?

KRT gives me a loaner. It generally smells better than mine...

No carvana wont give me a loaner, and I quit doing business at that dealership when it was a Hudson owned dealer. I have extended family that works in service for current owner, and sadly they dont hold same opinion as you. Glad he helped your Mr. Suggs family member out. Hopefully your not blind to the fact that your business and outdoors connections open a lot of doors that others dont get opened for you. Just the way the world works, nothing you have done that is wrong, I am glad for you.

I know who owns it. I don't have a problem with him, and I won't go off the cuff in here when no one can defend their (sales team)actions, it's tacky. I dealt with the public for long enough.

I completely get that. I’d say being a car salesman may be one of the hardest professions right now. Folks have so many options, and typically know what they are buying when they arrive. I just hate to see something like Carvana take away yet another small town industry. I just left my 8 year old son’s baseball game. JT Gandolfo was at the game with his son, watching his grandson. He has a sign in the outfield as a sponsor. So does Jim Hudson, Midlands Honda (Hudson store), Midlands Toyota (Hudson), and Peter Bouleware Toyota. Didn’t see Carvana. Might’ve missed it.

Lots of folks in here are about it til they ain’t. Keep on running down there to the credit union. Their rates are lower, but to hell with union labor. How dare they?

I'm not advocating carvana.. I have been in this town, and in business long enough to know the value to shop local. I'd never use a credit union, hell I'd lose friends as you know. I sit here on this site and watch Camden locals oblivious to local businesses and ignore them. I've seen it long enough. I'm buying most everything in my life local.. I will tell you most trucks that I know come from Ralph in Anderson for a reason... or a Chevy, they use to come from right out of town at H&H, it's done for a reason. I bought my wife's last Lexus at Hudson, painless easy process.

I'm getting ready to buy another slightly used 4runner for my youngest to go to college, and get her out of her older one.. it'll be bought at my locally owned used dealer.

I think there’s a lot of slime ball car salesmen. That’s probably part of the problem

It was insinuated that car stores are all owned by corporations and not local. I’m just pointing out that is far from the case. Perception isn’t always reality. And when I see something thrown out in a public forum, where if it isnt contested, could be treated as gospel, I provide evidence to the contrary. There are a million topics on this forum that I know nothing about. This is something I happen to know about, so I shared my opinion.

Bought a new car for my wife and it wasnt working out. Sold the new used car to Carvana. Have not purchased from Carvana. It was a very easy process. They offered me around $5000 more than what the dealer I purchased the vehicle from was offering on trade in. Bought a new vehicle from the dealer and told them what Carvana was offering and they said go for it.

I've sold 2 cars to carvana. Wouldn't have ever sold them to another individual but a mega corporation--better believe it.

Both times they showed up in the dark. Didn't even check them out. Just confirmed VIN, loaded and left.

Both times paid well in excess of what anyone or anyplace would.

Never once said anything about condition or issues which they should have.

So to recap. Great to sell a vehicle to. But you'd have to force me to buy one from them....

Never used Carvana. I have bought the last several cars and trucks through Lipscomb auto sales - Ned will drive that new or used car or truck right up in your parking lot for you. Sit in the drivers seat sign a few papers, hand the man a check and he's off. He is a broker, and will find what you want, irregardless of brand or location of vehicle. Pretty durn painless buying experience.
