Do only private parties get credit for easements with you? I think we need to whoa up on development in this state for sure. But I’m not sure what your point is here?
My point is we have a politician claiming the good he has done and the award he won but it was at the expense of the taxpayer. I'd like to know how much of his own personal money was donated toward conservation and is any of his personal property currently enrolled in an easement? It's rather easy to proclaim all that you have done with money other than your own.

I agree it makes sense to conserve land and I don't mind a landowner getting a tax break for doing it as it is still in private hands. My biggest problem is with the State of SC acquiring more land under the pretense of conservation when they can't manage what they already have. I think my money would best be spent toward other endeavors.

Palmetto picked up on the vibe.

Are you conservationist if you are "paid" through tax credits for your easement?

If the public has no access to the easement do you deserve the tax credit?

If mitigation is required for you to develop does that count has a conservation effort on your part?

At best I give you partial credit for the above but no medal.

My personal contributions to conservation began as a DU committee member and progressed to area chairman of the year, regional director, state wide conservation board, life sponsor, legacy sponsor. DNR board, Founding President of Flyway Foundation. Santee Cooper Aquatic vegetation Committee. Delta, Turkey and others.

But the greatest gift from me is the donation of 50% of my productive time for 19 years to serve in the State House and make it to the exact point I wanted, the Chair of the budgets of DNR and the Conservation Bank. It is that precise chairmanship that allows me to direct your hard earned tax dollars to support and enhance our outdoor experience. And for that, all I hear is you are a no good career politician.

I don't need or expect a medal. I don't need a thank you. I do it because I love my state and it's natural resources.

Thank you for your service to our state and its resources and I know it’s a thankless job that is ripe with criticism from assholes such as myself. I will be honest I debate internally about the tax or financial side of easements all the time. I understand it is a means to encourage and it is usually people of means that benefit and the public gets no direct or immediate benefit. In a perfect world people would keep do it without the tax break. The biggest thing I see is our state is changing and most people I talk with don’t like it worth a crap but yet our legislators keep encouraging it. I don’t have a good answer but I know I don’t like what I see now.

Well based on dt’s answer it appears he wins. Why do you think you get to know how much of his personal money or dollars have gone to conservation? You sound like a whiny child. We agree on mismanagement of property by the state. But this group,me included, wishes hopes prays that the state sees itself as an organization that will manage and improve the property it owns as best as possible for the enrichment of its wildlife and hunting and fishing opportunities. And the simple fact is they flat DONT. We have DNR, which is just another police force, with too much authority I might add. Even with a billion dollar surplus, even with the 100s of millions generated into our economy by hunting and fishing only activities, even with national events like Bass Master Classic hosting that event multiple times in this state, the State and most all of those in State gov don’t give two shits about how state land is managed/improved for hunting and fishing. . “We don’t have the resources or people” rings hollow next to a billion dollar surplus. They don’t hunt! DT is at least involved. If the ONLY thing he does is direct taxpayer money to improve those state owned habitats he deserves credit for same. He likes to rattle cages in here as do I from time to time. But I don’t see why you think you’re entitled to know about his personal conservation efforts with his own land or give him shit because he’s doing it at a state level??!! IS it easy to do it with other people’s money? Then why aren’t you in state legislature working on the problem. I don’t even know DT, but damn at all the whiny shit everytime he posts anything.

It is truly ridiculous. I have seen Phillip called everything but the devil on here. Meanwhile he is driving from Florence to Columbia to fight for our rights. I personally have ZERO respect for you cocksuckers who continually attack one of the few allies we have in the House...

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, I could care less what you respect. I don't value career politicians even if they are duck hunters who may have similar interests. Perhaps a lot of it in in his delivery that we wouldn't have anything if not for his work. Again just an opinion.

I can do this for days. If you don’t care what your peers presumably with common interests respect, maybe you’re in he wrong place. I think most people on here just through high common interest would stand up for each other all things being equal. If you can’t handle DT being a smart ass without getting butt hurt, don’t read his posts. We may be friends in person or at least hopefully friendly. But I respect God, my family and friends in that order. Maybe you just struggle with emotions or finding the words that best express with you’re trying to say. Don’t know. BUT IF you could truly “care less” what I or JAB or anyone on here respects, you sir can pound sand and fuck right off. That is all.

You would need to move your business to another county for that. Go talk to these folks. https://columbiaedc.com/
