New Bow

Gave my Matthew’s V3 to my son and don’t have a bow to shoot anymore. I’d put it down for a while rehabbing my shoulder but looking to start shooting again. I pulled it back today and it felt good.

If you had $1500-$2,000 to spend on a whole new set up what would you get? I liked the V3 for the solid back wall and lack of vibration plus it was compact and easy to maneuver. I didn’t like how jumpy the cam was and don’t want that considering the length of time I spent in PT with the rotator cuff. I had zero issues drawing, holding and shooting 70# today.

You will not find a smoother draw cycle than a bowtech in the comfort setting. The core SS or solution LS would likely fit the bill. Plus you get deadlock cams.

Omit PSE from your search. They are dead in the water. They might not be open this time next year unless they find a buyer.

Hoyt has a better draw force curve, better grip, and better factory strings than Mathew’s, but the new Mathew’s (lift X) does have a slick tuning feature. I like shooting the Hoyt better, but I am always going to side with the bow that is friendlier to tune.

Settled on a Matthew’s Lift RS, 70#, drop away rest, Burris Oracle2 and some other doodads. I shot the Lift X, Hoyt something and Bowtech Core SS. The Matthew’s definitely felt better to me. Solid back wall, zero vibration and pretty smooth draw. I was going to stick with the X until he found an RS for me to shoot.

I am about to go through the same process. My dad was at Simpson’s when they sold Matthews. We both have gorilla arms (31-32” draws). I never liked any of his Matthews. I haven’t bow hunted in 12 years, but I was always partial to Hoyt’s. I get to hear Nash, Willy and Hart go back and forth about how far they’ve come and all that nerdy business, so mI’m going in head first. Trying not to prejudge. I’m going to that guy in Augusta that they talk about.

Just did this exact thing this week. Retro fitted my V3 for my 18 year old as I have been shooting the Lift and love it.

I sure hope this isn't true bc their bows are great. I went back to them this year shooting the Mach 33 and I absolutely love it.

So just my opinion. If you’re wanting a good bow and not wanting to spend a ton of money. Seems like the new Bear in the $500 to $600 range has been pretty dang good. It will throw killing sticks just as well as any other one. They changed the cams a little this year and made them a little more aggressive. I would give the Bear a good look over before throwing $1400 on a bow then adding all the extras.

Same. No one can compete with their carbon line. They dropped a mint getting a carbon riser facility up and running in Arizona, that is also why I fully believe they will get bought up quick. The tariff game is going to put 3rd world carbon risers to a halt.

A good tune matters a million times more than the brand on the riser. There really isn’t a bad top end bow made right now.
