When spreading wheat was illegal in 90s early 2000s I had a Fri afternoon field near Ft Inn. Always consistently good. Always good. Planted and cut and tilled rows. In the field 4ish. Everyone always out in about an hour. Drink a beer or 2 and home in time to go out or eat supper. Good for years. Drove down one day after 1st shoot to check on it and I see Mr X in his old Chevy creeping through the field, then notice Mrs X up in the bed sweeping the tailgate to beat the band. I just chuckled and drove back home. Was Cracker Jack the rest of he season just like always.... Mr. X knew where his bread was buttered. I miss fri afternoon fields.

I miss a plain ole clean corn field. Or maybe a roost area with gravel.

    Nowadays you better plant sunflowers.

Second Friday. First Friday's are reserved for taking my wife out to lunch or playing golf. I've had to prioritize

I'm seeing more doves on wires around the PeeDee than I have in 5 years. It looks like a good hatch this year.

Worst thing I ever did when I ran a dove field was shoot it in the morning in the first split. They never came back in numbers. And we didn't shoot long.

I was thinking the opposite, but I hope you're right.

    Yep....morning shoots can have consequences!
I will not do a morning hunt until the end of the split or later in the season.
