I stepped on some kind of caterpillar years ago that lit up my foot worse than any puss caterpillar, saddleback, wasp, hornet, scorpion, or spider that I have encountered. Unfortunately, the event squished the bastard beyond good recognition. I was in severe pain on the bottom of my foot for two or more hours, then it became a steady throb. Two even parallel rows of sting welts about two inches long. The pain eventually passed, but I carried the scar for over a year as a reminder... two rows of purple dots.

Fuzzy caterpillars or no joke and neither is stinging nettle!

These hornets aren't aggressive at all to humans. They will stake out and hammer bees coming out of bee hives though. The showed up in Savannah presumably from the port and have been spreading out. They have probably been here 5-10 years which may as well be 50 years since they have spread out.

We must be talking about different kinds of hornets. I've yet to meet a peaceful non aggressive hornet other than a cicada killer. These giant assholes have no fear and will chase you. Had some try to kill me while they were feeding on a tree in my driveway.

I run through a bunch of nettle flyfishing and no problems. A saltwater catfish will knock me out in pain and I will wake up crying. Frickers...
