Diesel EGR cooler.

Ford 2011 and newer 6.7s. That big piece on passenger side of engine that’s aluminum is the EGR cooler.

Coolant flows through it to cool down EGR gases etc. you can replace the actual cooler inside that case. Here is one that chose not to delete so we took the cooler apart to ck the the actual cooler. Keep in mind this is legit soot in the coolant that passes through these channels.
