Default Dog killer had his day in court

Some of you guys may remember the post I started in September 2023. For those that don't here's the link. (19 pages)

    https://scducks.com/forum/showthread...aceBook/page19

There is a criminal charge for killing the dog that is still pending. I'm not really sure why considering the shooter admitted to the responding officer that he shot and killed the dog. I believe that DNR is slow walking this case for unknown reasons.

There was also a civil complaint the owner of the dog filed against the dog killer that was just adjudicated over the last few days whereby the defendant was found guilty by summary judgement on 02/03/25 and an judgement for damages delivered yesterday, 02/12/25.

Total damages for killing Annabelle are-

    a. Purchase of Annabelle: $800.00
    b. Lost income: $11, 200.00
    c. Value of Annabelle: $10,000.00
    Total Economic Damages: $22,000.00

    Punitive damages awarded were $110,000.

    Total judgement awarded is $132,000.

For those of you that advocated for the killing of deer dogs in the original thread, do with that information what you will.

132000 for a dog that was 4 miles away from legal property. The dog owner should be fined.

I agree the guy had absolute no business shooting the dog!

But to award this shitty ass dog owner that kind of money for negligence of keeping up with his dogs and making sure they were on property he had permission to be on is no different than the guy doing the shooting.

Both at fault but that dog owner should lose his hunting privileges for 3 years to get the point across how important it is to keep dogs where they belong.

Make an example out of this POS and others will follow suit and dog hunting will be done the right way.

aint a dog on erf thats worth 130G’s.
especially an untrained mutt roaming around miles from its home.

($130 grand…that was the going rate for 15 acres and a well just a few years ago)

    - shouldve ransomed the dog instead of kilt it. make the money not be charged the money, dipshit!

Great outcome. Now go try to collect the judgment by taking anything of value the idiot owns.

The dog's value was determined to be $22,000 but don't let the facts get in the way of your rant, dipshit.

Need to investigate the judge and see how much kickback he's getting.

    22,000 does not equal 132,00
    - I was referring to the killer as dipshit. Dipshit.

Determined by who? And by what Criteria?

I'm in no way, shape, or form on the side of the fence that shooting any kind of hound is okay. However, there isn't many if any deer hounds on the planet worth that kind of money. There are good one's bred in backyards across the southeast every day.

Did the dog win the All American or US Open?

If not the values decided in court were bogus,...leading to lopsided verdict.

I'm not a lawyer but I doubt this would survive an appeal if one is filed. $122k pretty much ensures that an appeal might be worth the cost.

One thing for sure, this topic has the Private Property Rights guys who think dog are cute torn inside-out...
