    Default Skunks in the lowcountry?

I've never seen a live skunk but I know we have a few in the upstate. I've seen two dead on the road in the upstate and often times smell them. I think we used to have them on the coast but feline parvo killed them off.

Recently, though, I've gotten a whiff of what I think is skunk as close to the coast as upper Marion. Does anyone know if they're moving south? Are we going to end up in a turf war between skunks and armadillos?

Stinky little bastards have been giving us fits right outside of Barnwell the last few years. Fortunately it seems that they can’t figure out that a vehicle going 60mph isn’t going to back down and that’s the end of Pepe Le Pew.

Saw one in Lee County last week. I was going to get a picture until it raised the tail. Decided it best to move along. Smell a lot of skunk scent when I ride through certain areas, but I think it is from local weed smokers.

I’ve never seen one other than the upstate

Side note; a few years ago I saw a dead armadillo on 26 in Laurens Co.

You're not smelling skunk. You're smelling Marijuana.
I've seen one or two skunks in the midlands.
I've smelled a bunch coming from hoopties at gas stations and even driving down the interstate....
    It's the marijuana....

They love a silage pit. Coons too. Probably why they are everywhere around Newberry.

They are everywhere in my part of Lexington County. Saw a female with 5 little ones from a deer stand on my property last season.

Had a cousin get the bad end of one 40yrs ago around Smoaks. Feline Parvo didn’t kill that one but a 12ga did.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

There were 3 dead ones between my house and downtown last week, about 7 miles.

Truth! Thought and seen and detained those very suspicions. But I will say I smelled a few dead ones more frequently near Barnwell. Never seen one but smell their existence.

Never knew y'all didn’t have skunks in the slow country.

Armadillos seem to come and go around Greenwood, I shot two off my front porch one morning about two years ago and shot two others in the yard all within the course of about six weeks, haven’t seen one around the place since. Jake hates an armadillo worse than a squirrel
