    Default Boat Opinion

I would like to buy a fishing boat and would like y'all's opinion on which type of boat I should be looking for. I live in Murrells Inlet, so lots of different types of water available. I'd like to mostly fish the inlet and different bays around here and probably the occasional trip to Santee for shellcracker and/or crappie. Would like to stay 18' or less. Oh, and this will only be a fishing boat cause we already have a Hurricane for pleasure riding.
So, throw some opinions at me.

Hard to beat a Key West 1720, or a Scout 17. Can run the bigger water, a 115HP, and can fish fresh water just fine.

I bought a war eagle 961 Blackhawk CC back in the spring and absolutely love the boat. Put a power pole and I-pilot on it and it’s really the best all around boat I’ve owned. The hull slaps some so chasing spooky fish it’s kinda loud but other than that I have zero complaints.

Around here, hard to beat an aluminum CC for that. Running up on oysters, sandbars, river trash. SeaArk, Xpress, Xcel, G3 all dealers near you. You’ll get sticker shock though. Still haven’t upgraded from my little Triton 1860, same Xpress I’m looking here is $10-15k less in Hattiesburg, MS.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I’m in your area. I have a G3 17cc with an F70. It’s ran up and down the lpd in 2 ft of water to the Georgetown jetties.
It’s not great at any one thing, but works for most things.

If you go with aluminum make sure you get plastic runners on the trailer. Murrells Inlet will eat an aluminum boat sitting on carpet.

Ah, thanks! I didn't know that. I don't know much about saltwater fishing at all.

And thanks for all the suggestions.

And if you get plastic runners, make sure to wait until the boat is supported by the water before releasing from the winch, especially on steeper ramps.

Whatever you get, buy a trolling motor.
    Sea Ark 1542 w/ Yamaha 40
    Xpress 16 w/ 50 Hammer
    War Eagle 15 w/ 30 Hammer

Nice little 18' Xpress CC popped up on Lowcountry Boat Trader on FB in PI today. Doesn't look like it's been used much at all.

I bought a boat off of here this year, and haven’t used it like I thought I would. Been tossing around the idea of selling it. 99 war eagle side console with a 50 mercury 2 stroke. Good boat, but I’ve only taken it out a handful of times. Needs to be ran more than I have time to run it
