Pheasants
Seen a post on Facebook a few months ago, about a guy from Australia coming to my America and wanted to try upland hunting. We met up Wednesday in Cheyenne and made the trip to chase some birds about hour north of Torrington. The state stocks birds, and has quite a few wild ones also running around. Winter finally showed up and I woke up to snow falling and 20 degrees. Went to little man’s room at 530 and asked if he was sick, in his sleepy daze he said no, so I said bummer if you were sick you could skip school and go Pheasant hunting. He quickly got dressed, told mom he was sick, and got dressed. Took 2.5 hours and got our limit. Made a friend from Australia and some awesome memories for my kid and old dog.

“… duckhunting stands alone as an outdoor discipline. It has a tang and spirit shared by no other sport—a philosophy compounded of sleet, the winnow of unseen wings, and the reeks of marsh mud and wet wool. No other sport has so many theories, legends, casehardened disciples and treasured memories.”
--John Madson, The Mallard, 1960
"Never trust a duck hunter who cares more about his success than his dog's."
