Hard to tell in the picture but is that granite? It almost looks like a marble or even an onyx. Do you want it polished or the leather texture (it looked leathered in the picture)?

My first call would be to Stone Interiors just south of Columbia. Ask for Dwayne and tell him Rhett told you to call him.

I found this piece in west palm, buts it’s way too expensive.

Have you considered doing a poured epoxy?

I appreciate the SC contacts, but the boat is in Stuart. Aside for the obvious logistical problems, South Florida happens to be the center of the granite universe. My hope was to find a piece that wasn't so expensive. But as I have learned over the last couple of days, the slabs with the pretty crystals, which is what my wife wants, are without exception the most expensive. They're graded and priced accordingly.

Not helping this situation AT ALL, the people we bought the boat from have that lemurian blue granite in their kitchen. And of course, they went on and on about how beautiful it is.

We're in silk hat territory at the moment.

You might already know this but I would call and ask the all the stone places down there (that have that type of granite) if they have any scrap pieces or a slab they have already cut into for another job.

Depending on the dimensions of what you need (I imagine on a boat the pieces are pretty small compared to a residential kitchen) you might be able to get it for a decent discount if they can cut what you need from leftovers.

We did this and saved about 20% off our island because it was made out of a leftover slab.
