Wyoming
Life has been hectic since moving to Wyoming, so my time outdoors hasn’t been as much as I’d like. Got into some pheasants the other day, trying to figure out sharptail. Then the weather got really warm. We were mid 70s most of October. Sunday night we got a huge front moving in so I decided to try and fill my deer tag. Drove 200 miles, hiked about 8, only to kill this guy a quarter mile off the road, and 20 minutes north of base. He will eat good though. Got snow coming tomorrow so going to chase Pheasant then get ready for ducks and geese. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to leave this place.

“… duckhunting stands alone as an outdoor discipline. It has a tang and spirit shared by no other sport—a philosophy compounded of sleet, the winnow of unseen wings, and the reeks of marsh mud and wet wool. No other sport has so many theories, legends, casehardened disciples and treasured memories.”
--John Madson, The Mallard, 1960
"Never trust a duck hunter who cares more about his success than his dog's."
