We had an eagle at Wateree that learned to snatch our ducks as soon as they hit the dirt. Unsavory bastage...
If times got real tough that would be one of the most valuable skills out there.
We’ve got a pair of Bald Eagles that perch in the same tree on our levee in Kentucky and clean up lost cripples. They have also been known to beat us to a downed duck when they needed a snack. Losing a duck is aggravating but watching those Eagles do their thing is fun to watch too.
\"If they don\'t hatch, they don\'t fly south\"
My sons hunted Bonneau Ferry 3 times. They hunted the big pond each time. First hunt we lost 2 to the bald eagle. The second hunt we lost 2 to the bald eagle. Year 3 came and they lost 6 ducks to 3 different eagles. When we paddled out to the blind, the bald eagles would fly to the tops of the huge pines near the blind and wait for us to shoot. We have it on tactacam video somewhere with the eagles swooping to grab the downed ducks. My sons were fairly upset for losing the ducks. They wanted to add eagles to their bag limit but I declined.
