I'm assuming to make sure no fraud is being committed.

No one in our area has flood insurance that I'm aware of, we are not in a flood zone.

that seems to be the repeated rhetoric but if you listen to the people at FEMA, they are flush and ready to help with Milton. Biden is staying in the country to coordinate.

Ironically I just finished talking to a guy on my dive team who happens to be a deputy and has folks out there. He said that the biggest problem is being overwhelmed by people who mean well but could potentially be making things more. He said that the worst are the “hotshotter” that are trying to run solo missions and actually disrupting their flight plans and schedules. They have a system where all certified pilots come in, show their credentials, and immediately assigned a chopper and schedule. They’ve already had several issues with independents occupying their landing zones with aid stations (well intended) and have had to quickly change direction to avoid collisions.

Also, the $750 is just the initial payment. They are also getting food, supplies, shelter, and trailers for those whose homes were destroyed.
