We filled 42ft container of supplies and this is firsthand from husband and wife who delivered:

We are going back to the church today to help hand out meals to community and then we are going to focus some of our efforts out in swannanoa to see if there's anything we can do with our truck to help haul stuff. They are literally making organizations STOP taking in relief efforts! It's SICKENING! But they can't do nothing about the churches!
Make sure to get the word out to make sure people drop off their donations at church’s and not Red Cross and agencies like that!
    THEY ARE NOT SEEING SUPPLIES

Be sure that where you take supplies pass them out directly, not through an govt organization.

Just got back from mountain area north of Asheville where my family is. Wednesday am it was very quiet. Leaving Thursday there was a noticeable amount of support trucks (power etc) and also convoys of supply trucks (walmart..) coming up 26.

I'd add files to sharpen chainsaws. Those hardwoods are no joke! Cleared for a day and a half while I was there. Tire plugs, fix a flat would probably be welcomed to the previously mentioned above items.

Unreal amount of trees down. Looks like a tornado went through the mountains everywhere. Really sad.

    That’s a load!
Hauling 4 pallets of water ( all Sam’s would let us buy). 3-4 pallets of food and 350 gallons of gas. Rolling now

I usually can't remember what I had for breakfast, but that pic and the thread makes me smile every time I think about it.

P.S. Be safe bucking those trees.
I don’t remember dropping a tree on a fence, but if I did, you can bet your sweet ass I wouldn’t have pictures still jackass

What’s a good organization to volunteer for? I’ve got the week of Halloween off and thinking about heading up there for a few days to help any way I can.

Samaritans Purse has a 3 day/3 night opportunity where they provide a place to sleep. Bring your own cot.
They'll identify the work needed and send crews out.

Headed out in the morning. Load of supplies, 2sxs, and 6 guys on saws if needed. Looks like Burnsville at the moment. BB on his way now, and keeping us posted, slow go with traffic.

I am in awe of all of your efforts. A few of us around here are working through other connections, so hopefully it will all eventually come to positive ends.

It appears that FEMA may be taking a back seat because “… they are too tied up at the border”. To some degree that may help NC, but if true the entire organization and hierarchy should be in orange jumpsuits.

Appreciate the info. I’ll more than likely go this route.

I just got back last night. I-26 both ways is open and clear. There is some construction East and West Bound "up the hill" from Columbus to Saluda with a lane closed down that delayed travel some. Otherwise all good. Getting around in Asheville/Fairview areas is a little slow because many stop lights are still out and all the dang lookers. We saw lots of good being done and will continue to be done. It's devastating but encouraging from what I saw. They all need prayer, if you cannot do anything else!

    Thanks guys

You guys are awesome.- Appreciate all you help. There are ALOT of folks in the outskirts of town that are really hurting. Lots of fuel trucks and linemen, so hopefully, we will see more and more power come on.

ON a personal note,we lost our house and all vehicles, had about 8 trees hit the house and 6 hit the vehicles. We are lucky to be alive for sure. Dogs made it out no worse for wear, well maybe a bit shaken. My son drove up from Georgetown with a generator and a pile of supplies he got from his friends there. Wow, the generosity.

    Thanks again

I was thinking about y'all earlier D. Very glad to hear from you. We are just starting to hear from the folks in Flat Rock. What a mess. What can we do specifically to help your family?

Glad to hear ya'll are ok. Material items can be replaced. Be glad to help where I can. I've spent the last week making sure my FIL was taken care of, but he's got power now.
