The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Last I heard my kitchen was flooding. Wife and kids are at the neighbors. 137 year old home, never flooded before.

I already got the ball started on insurance. Anyone have advice on any FEMA funds for natural disasters or other programs? Not sure what I’ll be getting home to tomorrow, rain should be done in the next hour.

Ended up with 3 trees down, a flooded basement and power out since around 6. The neighborhood is a mess. Giant trees down on some houses. Secondary roads nearly impassable due to trees and power lines down. I85 closed for a while.

I have never seen wind blow as hard as it did for 3-4 hrs. I'm hearing gusts to 80 and I believe it. Shit was scary.

Alot of work cleaning up ahead of us but nobody hurt and no major damage, all good.

Good luck to everyone and prayers for everyones safety.

Didn’t they just finish reworking that area in the last year or two?

Had job obligations in Summerville yesterday and couldn’t head home for the upstate until 3:00 a.m. I arrived in southern Greenville county about 1:00 P.m.
It was squirrelly up to Columbia, but from Columbia NW was a bitch. Estimate 50-75 big trees down including both directions. I’ve never seen this in the upstate in my 55 yrs.
I came out pretty good but a ton of people hurting right now. Please keep them in your prayers.

I’m reading reports that says this isn’t true. But of course I have no way to verify.

Usually the first 20 hours of what is what is pretty sketchy. We will see.

Newport, Tennessee ordered to evacuate as Waterville Dam situation becomes critical

Updated Fri, September 27th 2024 at 5:32 PM

COCKE COUNTY, Tenn. — Residents in Newport, Tennessee have been ordered to evacuate after theWaterville Dam suffered what Mayor Rob Mathis called "a catastrophic failure."

Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) later reported that Duke Energy claimed the dam "has not failed," but the evacuations remain in place.

“Evacuations are still occurring in the area. Please follow local official guidance if you live in the region,” TEMA says.

At 10:40 a.m., WATE reports that the Cocke County Emergency Management Agency shared that evacuations are expected for those affected by flooding along the Pigeon and French Broad Rivers.

At 12:45 p.m., Mathis said both are still expected to rise at least four to five more feet.

The Chattanooga Fire Department tells us they are sending firefighters, along with personnel from Signal Mountain Fire, Tri-Community Fire and Madisonville Fire, to help with the emergency situation in Newport.

Lake Lure dam is in bad shape and going over the top and around one side. What happens when you let a town run a dam. I grew up there and really feel sick. My younger brother still lives there.

Sad. Very sad. Praying it holds. They have known it was a problem dam for a while. Feds were supposed to send them some money, but they sent it to that little faggot in Ukraine instead.

Worse is it has been information blackout along the escarpment. Cell must be nuked. Heard some random "people are trapped" in certain areas because roads are obliterated, but it is way too quiet for my liking...
