    Default New Dog Lookin

Just past the 2 year mark on the passing of my dog.
I’m now considering looking for another dog.
I do have some Uninformed questions. How would YOU characterize the difference between the two dogs pictured below.
    458798448_1049141746978953_2964487458104022444_n.jpg459037828_1049145740311887_375964479875227088_n.jpg
I typically say “square head” or “block headed” vs “narrow face”.
What is the best way to identify face structure on a puppy? How strong is the inherited gene from the parents?

Both are beautiful dogs and have the facial structure that I would be looking for.

Not trying to be an a-hole, but what is with the emphasis on facial structure?

I'd be more concerned with the demeanor of the dam and sire.

It's more of a starting point and personal preference. Some want a Yellow, some want a Red. I want one with more of a square face.

Of course I'm concerned with it's demeanor of it's parents, that's not something I would look away from regardless of how the dog looked.

I prefer the blocky head shape. But that don't mean it's gonna be a good dog. As mentioned, I'd ask about the behavior and temperament of the sire and dam. YMMV.

PS: don't let your lab get fat.

Im in the market soon as well. I have had several chocolates over the years with too many allergies and skin issues.

The red labs have me intrigued by their looks, are they just as bad as chocolates as far as health issues go?

That's what I was thinking upon initial research, but some American labs have that 'blocky' symmetry as well.

Not trying to fanboy PBiz's dog, but it's exaclty what I'm looking for. Lean, long legged, female, focused, rocketship

A buddy of mine has a beautiful red. It has crazy amounts of drive. Super fast. Wild as hell though.
It would be a fantastic dog if he just put the time and effort in, it wants to hunt. He has not had any allergies or skin issues whatsoever.

Never heard of a red lab before

Any controversy around them like silver labs?

Not that I've personally heard. Now a silver lab, that's a different story. Everyone I've seen ends up having some issue or is super fat. It's a shame though, they are cool looking dogs.

Brown like to fight, it is the Chessy in them.

    Black or Black is best.

I wanted a small lab this go around. His dad is under 60 lbs. Apparently his mom's genes had different plans. He's got about 0 body fat, is long legged and runs like the wind, but has a great off switch. He stays just under 80 lbs.

Raised Golden's for over 40 years, me ang Paul Riddle. They were flat coated big bad ass dogs that would go into anything to get a bird. They lived a great live on there own 6' couches. I miss them. Anybody ever had a good Golden knows exactly what I am talking about. Best family dog ever. I got a tear.
