A lot of early signals were saying half point then everyone bounced back to a .25 cut. I think we probably just relit the inflation rocket but the economy is in bad shape. Until we get a handle on government spending I don’t think it matters. Those under the top 5% earners are getting hammered daily. Fuel is the only thing that has softened and that is due to demand being off and supply is excellent, refiners all focused on diesel due to profitability and now they are swimming in supply.

Personally I think we should have taken rates higher instead of cutting. People haven’t quit spending. It would be very painful for the bottom but people have forgotten how to budget. America needs an economic gut check.

1 reason they don't work because the the govt. pays you not to. The wife gave up a dealership just so she could afford her health insurance. Had she kept it she would have been working for nothing. This all started with obama.

    Most were predicting .50

59% chance of .5, 41% chance of .25 on CNBC before the announcement

Yes .5 cut is rather historic though

It is absolutely mind boggling. It wasn't that long ago that if you didn't work you starved. Now instead the non-working are mostly obese. And now their government funded medical bills are sky high due to their lifestyle. Our government (leaders) is broken. How do we fix it? Is it fixable?

The poor worker or government leach are both getting creamed by inflation but their impact on the economy is not enough to offset the continued spending by the affluent. The price increases have cooled but wages will not come close to matching the increases so the pain continues.

How does the impending .gov shutdown play into this toof?

I don’t doubt that it’s true but where did that statistic come from?

    The money is broken.
No president, treasury secretary or federal reserve chairman will ever be able to fix it.
Anyone whose paying attention (and not to those bullcrap CPI numbers the fed publishes) can clearly see inflation has not cooled and we are beginning further QE???
    Buckle up.
