Good luck with your search CurLee. My father is 74 this year as well.

I hope to put him on a couple good trips for him to remember as well, just as you are.

I just wanted to come back this post and thank EVERYbody who responded to this thread and the multiple members who offered both their time and access to their property to help get my Dad on a turkey last spring.

    Welltaut and Bigtime, especially.....Thank you.

Dad and I ended up hunting a couple mornings and one evening on property that one of yall graciously opened up to us. Meanwhile he had heard ONE lone gobble and never saw a turkey on my own property, as I had kind of expected.

The last afternoon that he was able to hunt, we came back to my fellow SCducker's property and were able to talk to at least three gobblers but saw only one. He didn't get an opportunity to shoot but was ecstatic to talk to and see gobblers in a state he had never hunted before. It was a good day.

It was also the last day I was able to hunt with my Dad. We lost him on July 25th....

Still hurts, and deer season in WV in November is gonna suck. But I'll be there, because I can't NOT be there.

He was a good man, and I'm glad he was able to see firsthand how kind and generous the folks on this website are.
Kevin, he was extremely grateful for the experience, and I'm sorry that he couldn't shake your hand and thank you personally due to circumstances. It meant a lot to the both of us.

Sorry for your loss. Glad you and your Dad got to spend some time in the woods together. As we all know, it's not about the kill.

Sorry to hear it! You will never forget that time in the woods together. Now be sure to honor his memory by passing it on if you just take a kid bream fishing…

My youngest daughter will be in the stand with me come October, and possibly behind the gun for the first time, too. Dad was a first generation hunter. My nephew and daughter are now third generation hunters.

Thanks for all the kind words, guys.
