    Default Hog Processor in Midlands

After many years of not having any hogs on our farm they have showed up. Taking my son this afternoon for youth day and per the camera it appears he will have a better chance at a hog than a buck. Do y'all have any recommendations of a good processor around Columbia or between Ridgeway and Lexington that does good work on hogs? I suppose the big one would be good for sausage and the 2 smaller ones would be perfect whole on a pit?

YOU are the best processor. Peach Orchard is #2 and Bobby at 601 Processing is #3. Midlands only...

I'll add that all three of those are good eaters... the biggest one is only 80lbs... Take a shotgun and walk in there and line two up for the first shot, and roll the third one as it leaves. Go in there with a rifle and you will have the other two come in at night for the next six months.

Don’t overlook the fact that you can line up two for a rifle shot. I’ve done it a good many times

We're just going to process on our own. He killed the big sow.

Educate me. I've cleaned a ton and know others who have cleaned/processed many more and we've never worn gloves.

A sow a week or so on either side of giving birth is some of the best meat I've ever eaten and the fat is great for cooking.

I'm guessing she was around 125lbs. and not really fat at all. Gonna make some homemade sausage and hopefully the others got the hint and won't be back.

I had some wild Congaree swamp hog pork tonight.

Don’t cook as long as you’d cook a store bought butt but overall great. Field dressed
