What if it’s a GM and it eats oil? Asking for a friend….

If you are adding oil every week or two you dont need to change the oil just the oil filter.

I use Trip 2 to keep track of oil mileage. I change mine every 3500-4000 miles especially if I'm pulling a big boat. I always gotten between 170,000 to 250,000 miles out of an engine without problems. I change differential and transmission fluids every 60k.
