Same to you. Looking forward to it.
Yeah… Happy dove day everybody!
I hope everyone has a fantastic shoot. And, take those kids.
Good luck and be safe. I hope everyone has hot gun barrels tomorrow. Don’t lose sight of what it’s all about. Family, friends, and God’s creation.

We had a decent shoot in Erhardt. There were enough flying through the afternoon to make you pay attention.
Done before 0800 this AM in the Lowcountry.
"Friend" of mine had a slow shoot this PM in the midlands.
Had to send the dog in the pool a few times but scratched out a limit….

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

Ours was good and the food was too.
Good company, good food, good shoot.
Poor shoot at our place. Based upon what we had been seeing, I expected a good shoot. It wasn't. I bet there weren't more than 150 birds. If you were on a good stand rotation and if you shot well, you could pick up a limit. I was coaching an 8 year old on his first shoot, so we did not pick up anything like a limit.

lots of doves. lots and lots of teenagers and lead flying.
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
Our field was great, lot of limits and nice short hunt. We pretty much done by 10 am , even got the annual visit by local GW’s just doing their jobs.
From talking with them everyone seemed to be having ver good shoots that am
But dang they told us we could not go back in afternoon for another limit LOL.
Seriously great weather and great times w friends. What Dove hunting is about plus props to my Buddy and his 2 sons. They did one hell of a job on the field this year , folks that do not get involved in the process in the spring have no idea how much work these fields are .
We had a great time and a good shoot 512 birds with 41 guns. We had more kids than ever before and many of them harvested their first bird. That makes it all worth it in my book. The neighbors shot the grown up hayfield that morning and afternoon and blew birds off the lines and out of the sunflowers until 9:45 am. I was setting up and watched a guy shoot in the air toward my field to scare doves up out of my field. Anxious is an understatement as to my emotions before the shoot. I feared the lovely neighbors had ruined our chances at a good shoot but, we ended up having a good shoot regardless. Lots of pour shooting and lots of lost birds and still picked up 512. We were holding 2500-3000 birds Sunday evening so you can imagine how good it could have been. Regardless, no one can complain about the number of birds that returned that evening in my opinion.
