If you own the land or have a a good lease agreement for long term, you can apply for NRCS money to defer the costs. It’s cost sharing but if you put in the work yourself it can cover the cost. If you do the work it should cost 300-350 an acre to convert and plant old fields ( chemical, fuel, seed. Seed is EXPENSIVE) to natives, but they pay over 400.
You just have to see if they offer it in your area.
