I recently came to possess a stainless Remington 700 barreled action chambered in 300 Rem Ultra Mag. Receiver and barrel ... no bolt.
I need another project like I need a hole in the head but it's been a minute since I had a Remington 700 to play with. And I definitely don't need a gun in this caliber. So... I'm looking to rebarrel it and build something lighter recoiling but worthy of the long action, good enough for elk (just in case I finally cash in my Wyoming points), and light enough to be easy for a 60 plus year old with fading knees to tote. Availability of brass and ammo is key.
My first thought was 6.5mm PRC, but I might want a LITTLE more ass than that. Or not.
