At the end of the day the average “hunter” in SC doesn’t want to shoot a deer unless it has a handle attached to its head. And since we are generalizing when I hear “meat hunter” 9 times out if 10 that means they shoot 4pts and basket racks and not enough does to account for shit. We absolutely report depredation kills also, they won’t issue the permit the following year if you don’t report. As far as gut shooting them, I refuse to make myself shoot poorly, I’ll drop them and drag them, 50% make it to the field edge before they fall anyway.
