I think I'll have to pass on that.

I was getting them in my neighborhood last week. Picked up some in Edisto as well. They make a great omelet with prosciutto and goat cheese. If I had knocked on some doors and gained access to peoples back yards it would have gotten stupid.

The shaggy-stalked boletes are my absolute favorites. They've got a fresh lemony flavor. They should bloom through mid-September.
I found a big chicken of the woods a couple weeks ago. Cooked some and determined it was named aptly as it was as bland as any grocery store boneless, skinless chicken breast. Tossed it in the trash.

Cooked up a batch tonight. Used garlic butter to sauté them in along with just a little soy sauce. Melted some Haverty cheese in at the end and made toasted sandwiches with them. Wife gave me an A+ which is high praise indeed from her. If my wife likes one of my culinary experiments, then I know it's good. Forgot to take a picture so just imagine a bunch of gooey mushrooms on toasted bread.

Yep - for color. Thanks for noticing. It'd take a lot of work to get enough cinnabars to make even a side-dish.
