    Default Mom's Cedar Chest

I acquired my Mothers cedar chest after her passing almost 17 years ago. I was looking for a document and thought it might be in there. Hadn't opened the chest in years. It's full of all kinds of stuff from 20+ years ago to the late 1800's. Tons of paperwork, miltary medals and documents, farming stuff, ect. to digest in there. A few items that I thought were cool.

With the farms proximity to Shaw AFB grandaddy was a spotter for enemy aircraft. This book is well worn and easy to tell it was opened and studied regularly.

We have a Clemson college yearbook from 1907, was looking through it today and remembered this thread. The cover has seen better days but inside everything is in pretty good shape.

Really cool stuff. We have my grandparents' cedar chest too and it's got stuff in it my grandfather brought back from Germany after fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. Been a while since I've looked at it all but this is inspiration enough. Thanks for posting.

It is amazing how much history they could squirrel away in those old cedar chest. Old travel trunks and foot locker are another treasure trove of history.
