Took T down to the Keys for his 16th birthday. Worked for them but got it done.

How do you harvest these guys? Don't you get them to back into the net or something?

Here is a video I did a couple years ago. I dove with a tank for these but same principle as this is the kind of structure they like. We caught all of ours on the Atlantic drifting with 1 person driving and 2 drifting. I DONT recommend this strategy for kids.

Couple different ways to find them snorkeling. A lot of people drag behind the boat at idle speed with a mask and snorkel and when they pass over a spot that looks good, the let go and dive down and check it out. The other way is when the sun is up, look for changes in bottom structure from the boat. Takes time to know what you are looking for and even then, what looks good from the boat may be nothing on the bottom. I’d say optimal debt for snorkeling is 5-10 ft. Gulf is usually calmer than the Atlantic.

It’s a great kid activity just have to be smart about where you go. You’d be surprised how careless other boaters are in search of these things.

Are you seeing many boats? We have seen maybe 8 boats these last two days. Been able to run a mile and limit out quick with no competition. I was thinking mini season was a madhouse

Not where we are at, but we’’re in the wind on the Atlantic. Gulf side had some spots that were kind of crowded but I’m with you, doesn’t seem like crazy busy mini season that I’m used to.

People are in this country are broke. The last thing they are worried about is lobsters when they are trying to hang on to that $80,000 SUV...
